The recruitments are always the same. Nothing special or original.
You go, and you meet some of the people there. Some are actually pretty chill, but then you get around to some other people who think that everything is about them. I think half of them are awesome, and half of them are just weird. If you talk to the chill, friendly ones, you'll get a good impression.
They also come off as pretty professional, but sometimes they behave in a very unprofessional manner.
During interviews, their cell phones kept going off. On top of that, they asked some questions that you'll never hear at job interviews. You're in a room with 30 + people who are watching you and asking questions. It really feels like they're just there to watch a show.
Even though there are some negative qualities about this organization (every frat has their ups and downs), I'm actually pretty neutral about it. Some people that I've spoken to actually are pretty cool and they seem like they've got their heads in the right place.
I guess it all depends on who you talk to. Every frat is always going to have its douchebags.

From being in the fraternity, I can tell that its members are focused, try to excel in every way possible and earnestly strive to reach their goals. The members not only provide a source brotherhood but are also a source of inspiration. However, you get what you give. The other brothers are always there to support and help but if you want to succeed you have to ask questions, put in the effort and take on leadership positions.

If you want to establish a network of professionals and motivated individuals then you need to look no further. Plus you are probably going to college to look for a career and a future, which we have programs and process that will teach you valueble skills that are practical in the real world as well as college life. So far my experience with this fraternity has been nothing but phenomenal.

Delta Sigma Pi is awesome.
It's one of those life changing things. When you're in it, it's hard to talk about it and describe it to people who are looking out it from the outside - in. It's just that awesome.
It's like college. If you wanna get a lot out of it, you have to put a lot into it.
I've learned so much about myself in terms of professionalism and leadership. There are many opportunities to develop your professionalism and leadership skills. You just have to make sure you take those opportunities.
It's also a nation-wide organization. We have over 226,000 brothers, so the networking opportunities are endless. I've been to a lot of the national events, and I have made so many new friends/colleagues to include in my network, like brothers from Georgia, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Texas. I know other brothers at the UCI chapter can same the same. The national events I'm talking about are LEAD and GCC. These events are like UCI's SPOP program, but instead of boring orientation stuff in the daytime, it's all leadership and professional development. Nighttime is really fun (just like SPOP) because that's when you get to really hang out and just meet people. You end up making a lot of friends. It's ridiculous!
Our fraternity also offers scholarships that range from 250 - 5000 dollars. Collegiate members and alumni can apply for these scholarships to use towards undergrad or grad school. Our organization promotes scholarship and that school should come first. It's stated in our purpose.
We also emphasize on professionalism by holding events to better brothers in their career paths. In the past, we have held events like resume/interview workshops and how to dress professionally. We've also had speakers from Deloitte, KPMG, and Fearless Music. These presentations and workshops give brothers a greater insight into different areas of business so that we know what we're getting into and so that we can prepare for the future.
In addition, our organization holds many community service events. In the past, we have been a part of Relay For Life, OC Heart Walk, and Working Wardrobes. We've also gone to animal shelters to take care of animals, and a local church-funded organization Fristers to take care of little babies. Our organization understands that it is important to give back to the community, and we take it very seriously.
And it would all mean nothing if there wasn't BROTHERHOOD. Our chapter's purpose also emphasizes on social activities. We usually have a retreat once a quarter where the whole chapter just gets together and hangs out. A lot of the times, it's pretty spontaneous. When a bro wants to go to the beach, she/he will just send a text or e-mail, then the next thing you know, there's 5-10 other people there. I've made a lot of lifelong friends who mean the world to me, and it's awesome.
It's obvious that I've got a lot to say about our fraternity. I'll say this much: besides all the great things I just mentioned above, I got an internship a week after I was initiated. This was through networking with other brothers. Really.
I could go on and on, but it's better if you just come and check out our recruitment events. Come with an open mind and a lot of questions. Our brothers are very friendly, and we're always down to meet new people.
